The earthquake created quite some damage in and around Christchurch, New Zealand. The contact with our korfball friends in New Zealand is restored and the messages are quite positive. Mr. Rob Smith, told us that everybody is in good health. He informed us further that the strict building code in New Zealand proved its value again.

The City of Antwerp has recently invested one million Euros to establish ten brand-new korfball pitches. The outdoor pitches use a new technology of artifical grass with rubber pellets instead of sand.
Mr. Theo Van der Linde and Mr. Daniël De Rudder recently visited the continent of Africa to conduct coaching and refereeing clinics in the region.
These IKF representatives visited Zimbabwe and Zambia from 14th to 28th July and during this time were involved in a comprehensive training program with the local korfball communities of these countries.
Daniël held a coaching course of three days duration which was attended by more than 30 players of the Zimbabwean National training squad. A lot of talented players came from the two most important regions of Mutare and Masvingo to participate and were very enthusiastic about the training sessions held.

The Chinese Korfball Promotion Committee held a course for coaches and referees from July 3rd to 6th 2010 in Tianjin, China. Mr. Ben Crum (NED) was invited to lead the courses for PE teachers, in which participants came from 20 Chinese Universities and colleges. Furthermore another 28 students from Zhengzhou University, Southwest University and Tianjin Science and Technology University attended the course activities to improve their knowledge of korfball. 20 players from the Dutch National team were also invited to demonstrate the training and coaching.
The Korfball Australia (KA), National Club Championships, were held on 12-13 June in Adelaide. Club sides from Australia’s korfballing areas competed for the National title in both an A and B Grade section. The strong Arista-Marion Korfball Club won their third successive A Grade final in a tight final against long time rivals, Adelaide Boomers.
Korfball Australia are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Craig Miller as the new National U23 Coach. Craig comes to the position with a long playing history at International Level and a solid record of club coaching in Australia with particular emphasis on Junior Development. Craig’s first assignment will be to guide Australia through the IKF Asia-Oceania U23 Championship to be held in July 2011 in Adelaide.
The 2010 Hong Kong Korfball President Cup has been successfully held on 26 & 27 June 2010 in Hong Kong.
This tournament has a variety of sections which cover many age groups and include Primary and Secondary schools, Tertiary Institutions and an open division.
On Saturday 5th June the finals of the Catalan League 2010 took place in Barcelona. It was a huge event in the Catalan korfball program as more than 500 spectators watched the games.
Mr Adri Zwaanswijk, "Swan", is appointed honorary member of the Royal Dutch Korfball Association (KNKV) 7 June 2010.
Swan is worldwide wellknown. He travelled many years many times around the world to promote korfball. KNKV awarded him for his many years of service as Dutch national head coach, his contribution to the development of the game and for his commitment to international korfball.
Swan is IKF honorary member since 1991 also.
The IKF is very pleased that Swan has received this honor of the KNKV. We give Swan our warmest congratulations.
In Zeist (NED), the Royal Netherlands Korfball Association KNKV and the IKF announced the final schedule of the IKF European Korfball Championship 2010. The event will take place between 22 and 31 October 2010 in The Netherlands.

Chinese Taipei international player Ricky Wu has been named the male rookie of the year of the Dutch Korfball League. Leon Simons was named male player of the year.
